Connecticut
Underwriters, Inc. was founded in 1964 by Henry J. Stone, Jr.
Mr. Stone had an innovative idea to form a brokerage agency
that would provide broader markets for independent insurance
agencies.
Over
the years, Connecticut Underwriters has grown steadily, serving
thousands of agents and tens of thousands of insureds. Although
Connecticut Underwriters' home office is in Middletown, Connecticut,
its branch offices in Massachusetts and New
Hampshire and Pennsylvania allow the
company to meet the insurance needs of agencies throughout New
England.
On
November 1, 2000, Connecticut Underwriters and its subsidiary
companies, including CUINCO (Connecticut Underwriters' premium
finance company), were purchased by longtime employees William
Kiley and Lillian Guilmartin.
Under
this new ownership, Connecticut Underwriters continues to operate
as it always has. Mr. Stone's philosophy of "No account
is too small or too large" still holds true today.
